The Commotion Time

1547, King Henry is dead and his son’s swift reforms are quickly sweeping through the nation creating religious and agrarian discontent. In Poundstock, a small village in North Cornwall, three women are confronted with unimaginable, disorientating change. As taxes are raised, altars stripped, certainties lost and allegiances tested, what will they trust in now?

Inspired by the history of Poundstock Gildhouse, The Commotion Time is in development with director Jo McInnes and dramaturg Joanna Ingham. It will receive a workshop at RADA this spring in anticipation of development in North Cornwall and London in 2017.

The Commotion Time is my first full-length play.
